designed well except for the tail motor which is shaft gear driven. We are not sure why Walkera did this as opposed to mounting a regular tail motor at the end. In any case, the major drawback remains the carbon brushed tail motor nested in the middle of the heli. What a pain to remove let alone the longevity of the motor. After about 3 dozen full flights on average you have to buy a new one at about $8.00(USD) a pop. OUCH !!! over a couple of months, this heli can get expensive. We decided to change that with an easy mounting carbon brushed N60 direct drive (DD) tail motor. Direct drive means more power as there is no gear reduction and no pinions to worry about proper meshing. The tail motor is still carbon brushed but its larger size makes the motor last longer than the traditional n20-n30 sized carbon brushed tail motors. Heat sinks are still required for longer longevity for the motor. We also replaced the three blade tail rotor with a sturdy two blade tail rotor. Below, we added the carbon brushed direct drive tail motor with the Walkera High Performance Blades. We also added fast blow ATO Fuses for the main motor (10 AMP) and tail motor (3 AMP), since both motors are still carbon brushed. Lastly, we added the ON/OFF pushbutton Power switch for added convenience.
