Above is a short flight using the upgraded carbon brushed Direct Drive (DD) Tail Motor Kit installed on a 2.4 Ghz Walkera #22E/ Exceed Eagle 50 6-channel CP heli. Installed is a brushless main motor. The video will show how fast this bird can accelerate up, climb, and spin. The system was tested using an 11.1 volt 1,000 Mah 20c LIPO. The flight time was about 7-10 minutes on average.. |

Upgrade Your Tail Motor to Direct Drive (DD) for your 35/72Mhz / 2.4 GHz Walkera #22E / Exceed Eagle 50 6-Channel Collective Pitched (CP) Electric Helicopter |
The Walkera #22E / Exceed Eagle 50 is a low cost entry 6-channel Collective Pitched (CP) helicopter that flys using a 370 carbon brushed main making the rudder control weak. Additionally, the carbon stock tail motor lasted about 3 dozen full flights before failing. We changed the stock tail motor with a larger n60 carbon brushed tail motor with side vents. This motor last about twice as long as the stock tail motor and offers a Direct Drive (DD) -- shaft to blade. This offers more power to the rudder giving superior performance for high speed turning and spinning. We decided to change that with a low cost and easy mounting carbon brushed N60 direct drive (DD) tail motor. Direct drive means more power as there is no gear reduction and no pinions to worry about proper meshing. The tail motor is still carbon brushed but its larger size makes the motor last longer than the traditional n20-n30 sized carbon brushed tail motors. A 3 Amp ATO Fast blow fuse and a tail motor heat sink are still required for protecting the Rx and longevity for the direct drive (DD) motor. Minor soldering is required for this mod. This Direct Drive (DD) Kit can work with the existing 370 carbon brushed main motor or the Main Brushless Motor upgrade. We recommend the 35/72Mhz Main Brushless Motor upgrade or 2.4Ghz Main Brushless Motor Upgrade to work with the Direct Drive (DD) Tail motor kit. |
