2.4GHz WALKERA V400D02 (CENTURY NEON BLAZE SE) FLYBARLESS 6-CHANNEL CP
DIRECT DRIVE (DD) BRUSHLESS TAIL MOTOR INSTALLATION

1. In order to have the Direct Drive (DD) Brushless Tail motor Installed and
working properly, you must have the Brushless Main Motor mod already
installed.  The DD Brushless Tail motor will NOT work without the
Brushless Main motor Installed and will not work properly with a stock
carbon brushed motor.  Carefully remove all the items from the plastic
bubble wrapped bag.  Every endpoint connector has been carefully
labelled for your convenience and easy installation.  We also TEST EACH
KIT before shipping out to be working properly, so that there is NO
QUESTION that this kit did not work before shipping.

2. The tools you will need are a small wire cutter and a
Metric Hex
screwdriver Set. (not shown)  We also recommend using some Blue
Medium strength LOCTITE on all tail motor screws.

3. Unplug the Tail Motor power connector that connects to the Walkera
V400D02 Speed Controller.  De-solder or Cutoff the power leads (Red and
Black) wires of the Tail motor.  Remove the Stock Carbon brushed Tail
motor with the Tail Motor Holder by unscrewing the small set scew that
holds it to the Tail boom.  Carefully pull out the tail assembly.  Then,
carefully pull out the Tail motor wire in the tail boom.  Pull gently from the
head end JST Connector of the tail power wire.

4.  Replacing the direct drive (DD) Brushless Tail propeller is very easy.
You will need a 1.5mm Hex Screw driver.

5.  Using the hole at the end of the propellar cone and holding the
brushless tail motor, insert the tip of the 1.5mm hexdriver into this small
hole and turn to tighten or loosen.

6.  Let's connect the Tail Propeller to the brushless tail motor.  Notice the
shaft is flat on one side.  This is were the propeller set screw hole should
align with.  Then using a hex driver (1.5mm) -- set the grub screw from the
propeller onto the direct drive tail motor.

You can purchase replacement direct drive (dd) tail blades by clicking
here =>

7.  The quickest way to install the Direct Drive (DD) Brushless tail motor is
to just wrap the tail signal motor wires (Tri-color wire) around the tail
boom and tie down with the nylon tie wraps.  If you want the wires hidden,
you will need to remove the tail boom and snake the wires through the tail
boom.  You will also need to drill out the servo rod holder in order to get
all three signal wires through the small hole of the servo rod holder.  We
like the quick way by wrapping because if the tail boom gets damaged
from flying, it is very easy to replace by removing the old tail boom and
inserting a new tail boom and re-wrapping the direct drive (dd) signal wire
over the new tail boom.

8.  Assuming we are going the easy way by wrapping the Direct Drive (DD)
Brushless Tail motor signal wire around the tail boom -- Insert the Tail
Rotor Assembly into the Tail boom and secure with the larger hex screw
we provide.  This will require a 2.0mm Hex Driver.    After you finish, it
should look like this.  Apply ,some Medium strength
BLUE LOCTITE thread
locker compound on the tail motor set screws.

9.  Let's setup the electronics.  With the POWER OFF.  First carefully
disconnect the RUDD.  This is a SINGLE ORANGE WIRE -- Gently pull out of
the RUDD port.  It will stay unconnected and be replaced with the new
signal wire from the Direct Drive (DD) Brushless Tail kit.

10.  Next, connect the Direct Drive (DD) Brushless Tail Signal wire. This
signal wire only has two wires (RED and WHITE) which will now replace the
single ORANGE wire.

11.  Make sure that the orientation is the same as the servos.  The Stock
servos are (WHITE, RED, BLACK) and the Metal Gear Servos are (ORANGE,
RED, BROWN). So, the WHITE wire on the Direct drive (DD) Brushless Tail
Signal matches the a bank of (White) signal wires or a bank of (Orange)
signal wires.  You are now done with connecting the electronics.  Tie
Wrap the wires.  BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE two wire direct
drive (DD) Brushless Tail motor Signal wire.

11. Connecting to the tail to the power.  With the new style Walkera
V400D02 Main Brushless Motor Kit, we only need to connect the JST
Power to the input of the Main Brushless Kit.

12.  If you have the old style connector in which there is no JST connector
for an optional Direct Drive (DD) Brushless Tail Motor, you will need the
power adapter we have provided when you made your selection to get
this Direct Drive (DD) Brushless Tail Kit.  Basically you will be connecting
another set of 3.5mm Banana Connectors.  Make sure that when you are
connecting the 3.5mm Banana Adpater that ALL Wires MATCH.  That is RED
connects to RED and BLACK Connects to BLACK.  If they do not match, you
will cause a fire or even an EXPLOSION.  The LIPO Battery will get
damaged as well as the electronics.  So, double check before connecting
the power ON.

13.  Finally, when at startup.  Power up the helicopter and bind to your Tx.
This is an important point to remember.  The brushless tail motor does not
engage until you add a little throttle.  If you do not engage the brushless
tail motor before spooling up, you can have some uncontrollable spinning
at when initially spooling up.  The easiest way to avoid this problem is to
quickly lift your throttle up a little and then back down.  Repeat until you
hear the tail motor engaging via a small two beep sound.  Now you can
spool up without having too much tail whiplash like we had in our video
which we quickly compensated for.
